"The Koin wander far and wide, collecting trace minerals from the sea to form a valuable deposit on their head."

Statistics[]

The Koin is a large golden-brown fish with a curiously shaped medal implanted on the big bulbous head. It has whiskers that bob whenever it makes a turn (note that it's not shown in the reference picture), and the eye has a joyful cartoon trope. The Koin roams the ocean, scavenging for valuable minerals on the seabed. They slowly swim in groups of two to three, diving and swooping down on the ocean floor to gather minerals, repeating the process over again. It can be hard to stumble across them with their path.

Location[]

Koin are found in the Open Ocean and along the reef wall of the Coral Reef, where large fish alike roam. It is found in a similar area to the Tik Tik and Conga.

Catching guide[]

Can be found swimming in a pair around the area anywhere from the shore to the coral basin. They can be tricky to catch because they have a small lunge radius and are always on the move. And consistently goes down where large fish swim and get in the players way of catching the elusive Koin, so its highly recommended to get a large bait and then wait for the Koin to reach the shallow water. Koin will put much of a fight when hooked considering that fact that they don't seem much of a fight at first glance.

Trivia[]

  • The oddly shaped metal on the Koin head looks remarkably similar to the Pokemon Meowth's coin. Therefore, it may also be intended to be a koban coin.
