Lures are purchasable, one-use items that can be attached to your line. The majority of lures last for one cast, and hooks and bombs are automatically removed when the line is reeled in.

Rocket[]

Lure rocket

The rocket is a one-use lure that improves your cast distance. The rocket is attached to the hook and sends it flying on cast, potentially doubling the normal casting distance of your rod. It is particularly useful in the early game, if you lack a boat, but also finds use in the late game for fishing beyond the map boundary.

The rocket costs $400, and is unlocked in the Lure Shop at level 5.

Wearing the Cowboy Hat decreases the cost of rockets to $100.

Bomb[]

Lure bomb

Bomb in the Lures Shop

The bomb is a lure that explodes when fish try to take the bait, scaring away any fish in a small radius. Each bomb only lasts for one explosion, but bombs can be stacked up to five with the Bomb Stack rod upgrade. The Detonator rod upgrade allows the player to detonate the bomb on command using right-click, instead of waiting for a fish to bite. Since it is a round object, the bomb can also be used to catch Bombats (although a rock is more effective).

The bomb costs $200, and is unlocked in the Lure Shop at level 5.

Wearing the Demolition hat decreases the cost of bombs to $90, and makes the explosion radius much larger. The Surgeon hat decreases the radius and power of bomb explosions.

Lightbulb[]

Lure lightbulb

Lightbulb in the Lures Shop

The lightbulb is a lure that, when attached to your line, provides a light source for fishing at night or in the deep ocean. By default, the lightbulb lasts for four minutes. However, when wearing the Battery Pack hat, the duration is hugely extended to 40 minutes. The duration of the lightbulb is also doubled by the Dark Boat.

The extended light duration from the Battery Pack hat remains even if the player is no longer wearing that hat. Equipping the hat, buying a lightbulb, and then changing hats will allow a player to keep the longer 40-minute light duration but gain the benefit of another hat.

The lightbulb costs $1,000, and is unlocked in the Lure Shop the first time the player fishes up an intact Bulbfish. It is also the main target of Bulbeaters found in lower depths.

Huge Hook[]

Lure huge hook

Huge hook in the Lures Shop

The huge hook is a one-use lure that allows the player to chain catches - fish that bite at a smaller fish on the hook will be hooked themselves. This can be chained indefinitely until a Large or Huge fish is caught, since nothing bites fish of that size. The huge hook also allows the player to catch most Huge fish, which otherwise will simply steal bait or pull the line without being hooked. However, it will prevent the Cave Shark from biting, and the Abyssal requires an even bigger hook.

The huge hook costs $5,000, and is unlocked in the Lure Shop the first time the Shark steals your bait.

Mega Hook[]

The mega hook is an upgrade to the huge hook. It is a one-use lure and, like the huge hook, allows the player to chain catches. It also allows Large fish to be hooked regardless of the size of the bait. The mega hook is also the only hook that can catch the Abyssal, Shaku and Magnalav.

The mega hook costs $50,000, and is unlocked in the Lure Shop when the player reaches level 40.

Trawler[]

Shop Item: "Trawler; Passively catch fish that are swimming under the boat

Trawler in the Lures Shop

The Trawler is an attachment for boats. When it is equipped, a white net is placed under the current boat. It can be used to catch fish which are swimming at the surface beneath the boat. This can be useful for fish that are lurking for the lure and instantly try to bite, which can be annoying for the player. The fish who are getting trapped in the net will be stuck in there and can only move a little, but are not able to reach the lure. It had a feature that if you caught enough of a certain type of fish like mustardfish, it would make them extinct and give them and intresting new description, this feature was removed due to bugs.

It is highly recommended not to use the trawler if attempting to complete quests needing medium or small fish.

The Trawler costs $100,000 and it unlocks upon level 27.
